When Selah displays a scripture verse — whether in a popover as you hover over a reference, in a passage block inside a note, or in your daily devotional — it uses your preferred translation. Setting this to the version you study with keeps everything consistent across the app.

How to change your translation

Open Settings

Navigate to Settings from the sidebar.

Go to Study defaults

Select Study defaults in the settings sub-navigation (under Your study). On mobile, tap Study defaults from the settings list.

Select a translation

In the Scripture section, open the Preferred translation dropdown and choose the version you want. Selah saves your choice immediately — there’s no Save button to click.

Available translations

Selah currently includes two public-domain translations:
BSB is selected by default. Additional translations may be added in future updates.

What changes and what doesn’t

Changing your preferred translation affects new scripture lookups only. Existing scripture blocks in your notes keep the text that was fetched when the block was inserted — they store a snapshot of the verse text at that time. If you want an existing block to reflect your new translation, use the Refresh action on that block. This re-fetches the verse text using your current preference.
You can change your translation at any time without affecting the rest of your notes or history. It’s a good idea to set it during onboarding, but there’s no penalty for changing it later.
